No buses, no Botsa
Hyderabad, October 12: After the hasty shower of bouquets it's time for brickbats. After the government's declaration that the National Mazdoor Union, the major Congress-affiliated un'ion of the APSRTC, was calling off its strike, there were few buses seen on the road today. And the government is again at the receiving end for its 'hasty' declaration.
However, the transport minister and PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana, who had brokered the deal to call off the strike was away at Vijayanagaram attending a pooja.
But K Chandrashekar Rao, the TRS chief, who was schedul
ed to visit Delhi, cancelled his trip and was chalking out plans to stop the bus services being run by the government with the help of police.
Meanwhile, APSRTC National Majdoor Union president Mahmood said that the strike has been called off in the interest of the RTC organisation and the welfare of its employees.
He said that the T employees were against the agreement reached with the government but majority of the employees are with the union he claimed. It would take some time to be fully functional, he said.
Very few RTC buses were seen on roads and passengers waiting at bus stops told that the frequency is far less than that on a normal day. They all thought the buses would be on road in full strength today. 'Where are the buses,' enquired a middle-aged man waiting at the Jubilee Hills bus stop.
While passengers are waiting for the elusive buses, big bouts of accusations and counter accusations are ringing in the transport office. NMU leaders who had apparently agreed to withdraw strike are unavailable as they are castigated and threatened by T-staff of RTC.
'Our people will block the buses if they come on to the roads and for this the Government will be responsible if there is any violence he stated,' thundered TRS leader Nayani Narsimhareddy.
Meanwhile, all in the opposition and TRS-side are busy aiming missiles at the Chief Minister and Botsa saying they had 'bought' a couple of union leaders and are living in a fool's paradise if they thought they had easily managed to break the strike.
The BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya found fault with the CM and PCC chief for hasty announcement and misleading the public. TDP senior leader Warla Rama Rao, T-Congress leader Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, Lok Satta leader K Dharma Reddy all say the government botched the transport issue.
