Aamir hopes 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' beats '3 Idiots'

Mumbai, June 16:

Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani starrer Ferrari Ki Sawari hits the theatres Friday and Aamir Khan hopes that the film does so well at the box office that it beats the success of their movie 3 Idiots.

"I am here to wish the entire team. I am sure they have made a good film and Sharman is a nice actor and our wishes are with them. We want everyone who watched 3 Idiots to watch Ferrari Ki Sawaari also. We wish that this film goes far beyond 3 Idiots," the 47-year-old said here Thursday at the premiere of the film.

Ferrari Ki Sawaari is Rajesh Mapuskar's directorial debut and has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Rajkumar Hirani, who has edited the film, stated that the intention was to make a film for under Rs.100 crore.

"The film has not been made with the intention of crossing the Rs.100 crore mark. If that had been our intention, we would have been making at least one film a year. I take three years to make a film. If money was the intention, then every year we would have been making two films," said Hirani.

Ferrari Ki Sawaari tells the story of a father who will go to any length to fulfil his son's dream of becoming a cricketer.

Gold glitters for 6th day; hits fresh high of Rs 30,570/10 gms

New Delhi, June 16:

Riding high on strong demand for the wedding season coupled with a firming trend in the global market, gold touched yet another record high of Rs 30,570 per 10 grams in the bullion market here on Friday.

Gold climbed for a sixth straight session by adding Rs 20 to hit an all-time high of Rs 30,570 per 10 grams. The metal has gained Rs 1,050 in the last five trading sessions.

On the other hand, silver lacked necessary follow up support at prevailing higher levels and fell by Rs 970 to Rs 54,730 per kg.

Traders said besides buying by retail customers and jewellery-maker for the wedding season, strong global cues pushed the metal's prices up.

The metal rose in global markets on speculation that central banks from major economies may take more steps to buoy growth as Greece prepares for elections that may determine whether the country leaves the eurozone.

In Singapore, gold gained 0.2 percent to USD 1,626.77 an ounce.

On the domestic front, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity rose by Rs 20 to Rs 30,570 and Rs 30,370 per 10 grams, respectively.

Sovereign followed suit and gained Rs 50 to Rs 24,400 per piece of eight grams.

However, silver ready shed Rs 970 to Rs 54,730 per kg and weekly-based delivery fell by Rs 40 to Rs 55,200 per kg.

Meanwhile, silver coins continued to be asked at previous levels of Rs 65,000 for buying and Rs 66,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Fast food centres serving non-Halaal chicken?

The main reason behind the rise in chicken prices is the death of large number of chickens. If a large number of chickens is dying, where does the dead stock go? Are you committing the mistake of eating non-Halaal food by way of eating dead chicken, which is not zabiha?

Fast food business is on the rise in twin cities but we forget that inspite of chicken price hike, fast food centre owners are serving various chicken dishes at the same prices. Is it because they buy dead chicken on low prices?

Few days ago an English daily had published a report which exposed a shocking revelation that 80 percent dead chicken is sold on fast food centres and roadside vendors serving chicken dishes. After this revelation, it was also come to the fore, through an investigation, that the deaths of chickens have immensely increased during the past few months.

A businessman having vast experience of chicken business told that if 1000 birds come out of the farm nearly 50 to 100 of them die. Retail business where majority are Muslim businessmen, they avoid selling dead birds but in wholesale business a particular section do not hesitate selling deadstock. These wholesale companies cut the birds and sell them as frozen chicken. Owner of a famous hotel confirmed that news, saying that in present scenario the fast food centres cannot serve chicken dishes on the cost on which they are serving.
