Is Nagam planning to bid adieu to TDP?
According to sources, Nagam Janardhan Reddy is all set to exit from Telugu Desam Party. They have reasons to explain this.
Nagam has recently commented in a press meet that even TDP is responsible for the backwardness of Telangana. This has irked Naidu a lot. On another occasion, Nagam expressed that he would treat November 1, Andhra Pradesh Formation Day, as the “most unfortunate day”. This has furthur added fuel to fire. Upset with his remarks, Mr Naidu is learnt to have asked party leaders not to join Dr Reddy in his press conferences.
Things have not been well between them ever since the Telangana movement started. Nagam has formed a Telangana forum within the party, much to the displeasure of Mr Naidu.
Nagam also seeems to have felt that Naidu, who had described him as the TDP No. 2 just six months back, is now not giving any importance him. The return of Mr Devender Goud has also changed the equations within the party. Mr Goud has gradually increased his clout with Mr Naidu and often seen with him of late. Mr Naidu is consulting Mr Goud more on the T issue, rather than Mr Reddy.
“Mr Naidu is not willing to discuss T-issues with Dr Reddy, instead he is taking help of Mr Goud and Mr E. Dayakar Rao,” said a TD senior. “Mr Reddy is fighting a lone battle in the party.”
A case in point was the Babli issue, which Mr Naidu discussed with Mr Dayakar Rao and Mr Goud and not Mr Reddy.
“Dr Reddy now decided to go for Telangana at full speed and not to follow Mr Naidu’s directions. Mr Naidu is moving cautiously in view of the party’s interests in coastal and Rayalaseema districts,” said another leader who is close to Dr Reddy.
With both leaders not willing to budge, party circles are expecting a showdown and even the exit of Dr reddy soon.
