KVP is the chief architect of Emaar scam: KCR
TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has accused Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao of being the architect of the Rs.10,000 crore APIIC-Emaar properties scam.
Addressing a news conference here today, he said that Ramachandra Rao had played a key role in the perpetration of the fraud. “If Chandrababu Naidu had sown the seeds for the scam in 2002, subsequently it was Ramachandra Rao who executed this,” he said and demanded that the lands which were still not utilised by Emaar should be returned to the original land owners.
He said the state government at the time of acquisition took away the land but denotified lands belonging to film director Vijayanirmala and roads and buildings minister G Aruna Kumari. “Vijayanirmala’s 14 acres and Aruna kumari’s three acres were omitted from acquisition but the land belonging to the poor was taken away,” he alleged. As lands in survey No: 4 to 49 were still vacant, they could still be notified and be returned to the original owners, he said.
He demanded that BP Acharya, who is the principal secretary, Industries, should be transferred with immediate effect since he acted as APIIC managing director when the deals with EMAAR were inked. He alleged that a retired chief engineer of APIIC Parthasarthi Rao was appointed as a member of the board of Emaar Hills Township Project Ltd (EHTPL) because he was the brother-in-law of Ramachandra Rao, Chandrasekhar Rao alleged. He wanted Ramachandra Rao be stripped of his post of advisor to the state government on public affairs without any further delay.
He cautioned chief minister K Rosaiah that if he does not act fast, he may also be suspected to have had a role in it.
Referring to the notification issued by the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) for acquisition of land in tribal areas of Manugur in Khammam district for open cast mining of coal, the TRS chief said he would take up the issue with President Pratibha Patil since tribal lands cannot be taken away by issuing a notification. If the SCCL does not abandon its plans, Manugur would become another Sompet, Chandrasekhar Rao warned.
He demanded an increase in allocation of groundnut seed from 1.5 lakh quintals for Telangana districts to a respectable size since the allocated quantity is not sufficient even for Mahaboobnagar district.
It was unfair for the government to allot 10 lakh quintals for Anantapur but only 1.5 lakh to the entire Telangana, he said.
