Chiranjeevi to abide by SKC’s report
Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi said he would stick to Srikrishna Committee report on Telangana and claimed that it was he who asked the Union home minister P. Chidambaram to constitute a committee to look into the Telangana issue.
He was speaking to media after taking a holy dip in Pranahita pushkarams at Arjunigutta and performing pinda pradanam to his father and forefathers.
Mr Chiranjeevi said the party would launch an agitation in Telangana over farmers problems and demanded the Centre to declare Pranahita-Chevella as national project.
Refuting suggestion that he was afraid to visit Telangana due to protests, Mr Chiranjeevi said was only staying away from tours in the region as he does not want to create unrest. He reminded that he was living in Hyderabad which is part of Telangana.
He hoped that the present government led by K. Kiran Kumar Reddy would complete its full term which is necessary to solve the problems faced by the people.
Mr Chiranjeevi maintained that he had respect for the culture and traditions of Telangana and love the people of this region and that is why he had taken part in pushkaralu.
He asserted that they had had never tried for ministerial berths and were interested only in the welfare of people and the development of the state.
He said he met Prime Minister Manmohan Dr Singh and requested him to ensure national status to the Pranahita-Chevella and Polavaram projects.
