Delhi Police finalise 1,000-page charge sheet in gang-rape case

wo days after the death of the 23-year-old gang-rape victim, Delhi Police on Sunday said it have finalised around 1,000-page charge sheet in connection with the incident and plans to submit it in court on Thursday.

A senior police official said the charge sheet, which is being vetted by legal experts, has cited 30 witnesses in connection with the December 16 incident in which the physiotherapy student was raped and brutally assaulted in a moving bus in South Delhi. The victim died in a Singapore hospital on December 29.

Investigators said they will seek death penalty for the accused in the case.

Six persons wer apprehended in connection with the incident, which evoked widespread outrage and anger and triggered violent protests in India Gate and Raisina Hill.

The charge sheet, to be filed in the Saket court, will detail the role of five men while mentioning that a separate report would be sent to Juvenile Justice Board for the trial of the minor boy allegedly involved in the case, the official said.

The charge sheet gives details about the sequence of events, the treatment, shifting of the patient to a Singapore hospital as well as her death, the official said.

Police have invoked rape, murder and other charges against the accused.

Pakistan lifts ban on YouTube only to impose it once again

 

 

In a curious turn of events, Pakistan lifted the 103-day ban on YouTube on Saturday only to impose it again within a couple of hours as some television channels began reporting that the blasphemous content — which had invited the proscription in the first place — was still available on the video-sharing website.

The day began with hopes of the ban being lifted as Interior Minister Rehman Malik tweeted in the wee hours of Saturday that the notification ending the ban could be “expected today.” 

And, sure enough, the ban was lifted early in the day with all Internet Service Providers being asked to “immediately block/restore complete YouTube website provisionally till further orders” and submit compliance through email by 3 p.m.

As word got around and television channels broke the story, some reported that the blasphemous film Innocence of Muslims was still available on YouTube. 

This saw the government swing into action and order a fresh ban on the website. How long YouTube remained accessible is unclear but from the various versions available, the duration was anywhere between 33 minutes to two hours. 

Pakistan banned YouTube on September 17 amid a rising tide of protests against the film. 

Persistent demand

 

Since then there has been a persistent demand for lifting the ban on YouTube which in Pakistan doubles up as a key platform for musicians to launch their new songs as space for expression in any form is shrinking by the day. 

Several musicians have had to either move to alternate platforms or delay launch of their song in view of the ban.

American mathematicians solve Ramanujan’s “deathbed” puzzle

American researchers claim to have solved a cryptic formula that renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan believed came to him in dreams while on his deathbed, 

The formula was contained in a letter he wrote to his mentor, the English mathematician G.H. Hardy, from his deathbed in 1920 outlining several new mathematical functions that had never been heard of before, together with a theory about how they worked.

 It had baffled mathematicians for more than 90 years, but new findings — presented at a conference at the University of Florida last month — reportedly show that Ramanujan’s “hunch” about his formula was right — that it could explain the behaviour of black holes.

“We've solved the problems from his last mysterious letters,” said the well-known American mathematician Ken Ono of Emory University.

“For people who work in this area of math, the problem has been open for 90 years … Ramanujan's legacy, it turns out, is much more important than anything anyone would have guessed when Ramanujan died.” 

He said the so-called “deathbed puzzle” which, according to Ramanujan, was revealed to him by the goddess Namagiri, may unlock secrets about black holes. “We proved that Ramanujan was right. We found the formula explaining one of the visions that he believed came from his goddess. No one was talking about black holes back in the 1920s when Ramanujan first came up with mock modular forms, and yet, his work may unlock secrets about them,” said Professor Ono.

The Mail said that Ramanujan’s letter described several new functions that behaved differently from known theta functions, or modular forms, and yet closely mimicked them. 

“Functions are equations that can be drawn as graphs on an axis, like a sine wave, and produce an output when computed for any chosen input or value.

 Ramanujan conjectured that his mock modular forms corresponded to the ordinary modular forms earlier identified by Carl Jacobi, and that both would wind up with similar outputs for roots of 1,” it said. Nobody at the time understood what the Indian mathematical genius was talking about.

“It wasn’t until 2002, through the work of Sander Zwegers, that we had a description of the functions that Ramanujan was writing about in 1920,” Prof. Ono said.

His team, which used modern mathematical tools to solve the puzzle, was “stunned” to find the function could be used even today.

సింగపూర్, న్యూఢిల్లీ, డిసెంబర్ 29 : దారుణమైన అత్యాచారానికి గురై.. పదమూడు రోజులపాటు మృత్యువుతో అత్యంత సాహసంతో పోరాడిన యువతి ఇక లేదు. సింగపూర్‌లోని ప్రఖ్యాత మౌంట్ ఎలిజబెత్ ఆస్పవూతిలో చికిత్స పొందుతూ, ఆరోగ్యం అత్యంత విషమంగా మారి.. శనివారం తెల్లవారుజామున 2.15 గంటలకు (భారత కాలమానం) తుది శ్వాస విడిచింది. ఆమె చివరి క్షణాల్లో తల్లిదంవూడులు, కుటుంబ సభ్యులు, పలువురు హైకమిషన్ అధికారులు ఆమె పక్కనే ఉన్నారు. ఢిల్లీ గ్యాంగ్‌రేప్ బాధితురాలు చనిపోయిన

విషయాన్ని ఆస్పత్రి సీఈవో డాక్టర్ కెల్విన్ లోహ్ ధ్రువీకరించారు. ఈ మేరకు ఆయన ఒక ప్రకటన చేశారు. ‘‘శనివారం ఉదయం 4.45 గంటలకు (సింగపూర్ కాలమానం) బాధితురాలు కన్నుమూసిందని తెలియజేసేందుకు విచారిస్తున్నాం’’ అని ఆ ప్రకటనలో పేర్కొన్నారు. తొలుత ఢిల్లీలోని సఫ్దర్‌జంగ్ ఆస్పవూతిలో పదకొండు రోజులు చికిత్స అందించిన అనంతరం ఆమెను సింగపూర్‌లోని మౌంట్ ఎలిజబెత్ ఆస్పవూతికి బుధవారం రాత్రి తరలించిన సంగతి తెలిసిందే. బహుళ అవయవ మార్పిడికి ప్రఖ్యాతిగాంచిన ఈ ఆస్ప్రతిలో ఆమెకు రెండు రోజులు చికిత్స అందించారు. అయితే.. శుక్రవారం సాయంత్రం 6.30 గంటల (భారతీయ కాలమానం) తర్వాత ఆమె ఆరోగ్యం మరింతగా విషమించింది. మూడు రోజులక్షికితం వచ్చిన గుండెపోటుతో మెదడులో వాపు ఏర్పడింది.

అదే ఆమె మరణానికి ముఖ్య కారణాల్లో ఒకటని వైద్యులు తెలిపారు. వివిధ కీలక అవయవాలు పని చేయడం మానేశాయని మౌంట్ ఎలిజబెత్ ఆస్పత్రి సీఈవో లోహ్ చెప్పారు. గరిష్ఠ స్థాయి కృత్రిమ శ్వాస ఏర్పాటు చేసినా.. ఇన్‌ఫెక్షన్‌లను ఆమె శరీరం తట్టుకునేలా యాంటీబయాటిక్స్ డోస్ ఇచ్చినా ఫలితం లేకపోయిందని ఆయన చెప్పారు. బాధితురాలి మరణానికి తమ ఆస్పత్రి వైద్యులు నర్సులు, సిబ్బంది తరఫున ఆయన ప్రగాఢ సంతాపం తెలిపారు. బాధితురాలి మృతదేహన్ని సింగపూర్ జనరల్ ఆస్పత్రి మార్చురీకి తరలించారు. అక్కడే పోస్టుమార్టం పూర్తి చేశారు. భౌతికకాయాన్ని భారత్‌కు తీసుకువచ్చేందుకు ఆర్మీ ఒక ప్రత్యేక విమానాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేసింది. ఈ విమానం భారత కాలమానం ప్రకారం రాత్రి 10 గంటలకు సింగపూర్ నుంచి బయల్దేరింది. ఆదివారం తెల్లవారుజామున 3 గంటల తర్వాత భౌతికకాయంతో ఢిల్లీ చేరుకుంటుందని సమాచారం. యువతి మరణంపై రాష్ట్రపతి ప్రణబ్‌ముఖర్జీ, ప్రధాని మన్మోహన్‌సింగ్ సహా అనేక మంది రాజకీయ పార్టీల నాయకులు, ప్రముఖులు సంతాపం తెలిపారు. అత్యంత సాహసంతో మృత్యువుతో ఆమె పోరాటం చేసిందంటూ నివాళులర్పించారు. యువతిపై దారుణ అత్యాచారానికి పాల్పడిన వారిపై విచారణ వేగవంతంగా నిర్వహిస్తామని భారత ప్రభుత్వం ప్రకటించింది. ఈ కేసులో సత్వర న్యాయం జరుగుతుందని హామీ ఇచ్చింది.

చివరి వరకూ ఆమె మృత్యువుతో ధైర్యంగా పోరాడిందని సింగపూర్‌లోని భారత హైకమిషనర్ టీసీఏ రాఘవన్ అక్కడి మీడియాకు చెప్పారు. తమ బిడ్డ మృతితో ఆ కుటుంబం నిర్ఘాంతపోయిందని చెప్పారు. అదే సమయంలో ఇక్కడి ఆస్పవూతిలో మరింత మెరుగైన వైద్యం అందిందని వారు భావించారని తెలిపారు. ప్రధాని మన్మోహన్ పంపిన సంతాప సందేశాన్ని యువతి కుటుంబ సభ్యులకు అందించానని చెప్పారు. మహిళలకు అత్యంత సురక్షితమైన ప్రదేశంగా భారతదేశాన్ని తీర్చిదిద్దాలన్న కోరికను మన్మోహన్ ఆ సందేశంలో పేర్కొన్నారని తెలిపారు. సింగపూర్ ప్రభుత్వంతో పాటు అనేక మంది నుంచి హైకమిషన్‌కు సంతాప సందేశాలు పెద్దసంఖ్యలో వస్తున్నాయని రాఘవన్ చెప్పారు. గత రెండు రోజులుగా బాధితురాలికి సింగపూర్ ప్రభుత్వం, ఆ దేశ విదేశాంగ శాఖ, మౌంట్ ఎలిజబెత్ ఆస్పత్రి అందించిన సహకారానికి ఆయన ధన్యవాదాలు తెలిపారు.

ఢిల్లీ నుంచి సింగపూర్ తరలించడం ఆమె మరణానికి కారణమైందా? అని విలేకరులు ప్రశ్నించగా.. అలాంటి అభివూపాయాలేవీ తన వద్ద వ్యక్తం కాలేదని అన్నారు. డిసెంబర్ 16 రాత్రి జరిగిన ఘటనలో ఆమె తీవ్రాతితీవూవమైన గాయాలకు గురైనట్లు ఆమెతో పాటు సింగపూర్ వచ్చిన ఇద్దరు వైద్యులు పీకేవర్మ, యతిన్ మెహతా చెప్పారని తెలిపారు. అటు ఢిల్లీలో, ఇటు సింగపూర్‌లో అమెకు సాధ్యమైనంత ఉత్తమ వైద్యమే అందిందని అన్నారు. బలమైన గాయాలే ఆమె మరణానికి దారితీశాయని చెప్పారు. బాధితురాలి కుటుంబ సభ్యులు వివరాలు చెప్పేందుకు ఆయన తిరస్కరించారు. తమ గుర్తింపును బయటపెట్టవద్దని బాధితురాలి కుటుంబీకులు కోరారని రాఘవన్ తెలిపారు.

ప్రాణం తీసిన సెరెవూబల్ ఎడెమా
ఈ నెల 16న రాత్రిపూట ఢిల్లీలో ఒక కదులుతున్న బస్సులో తన స్నేహితుడితోపాటు ఎక్కిన ఆ యువతిపై బస్సులోని కిరాతకులు దారుణంగా అత్యాచారం చేశారు. ఆమెను అమానుషంగా హింసించారు. అనంతరం రోడ్డుపైకి తోసేసి వెళ్లిపోయారు. అత్యాచారం అనంతరం ఆమె కడుపుపై దుండగులు ఇనుపరాడ్లతో మోదడంతో పేగులన్నీ ఛిద్రమైపోయాయి. ఆమెను కొందరు ఆస్పవూతిలో చేర్చిన మూడు రోజుల తర్వాత ఆమె పేగుల్లో చాలా భాగాన్ని వైద్యులు తొలగించేశారు. సఫ్దర్‌జంగ్ ఆస్పవూతిలో మూడు రోజులక్షికితం వచ్చిన గుండెపోటుతో మెదడులో వాపు ఏర్పడింది. అదే ఆమె మరణానికి ముఖ్య కారణాల్లో ఒకటని వైద్యులు తెలిపారు. మెదడులోని ఇంట్రాసెల్యులార్, ఎక్స్‌వూటాసెల్యులార్ ప్రాంతాల్లో అధికంగానీరు చేరడాన్ని వైద్య పరిభాషలో సెరెవూబల్ ఎడెమా అంటారు.

మంగళవారం రాత్రి సఫ్దర్‌జంగ్ ఆస్పవూతిలో ఆమెకు గుండెపోటువచ్చింది. ఇది ఆమె మెదడు కణాలను దెబ్బతీసింది. దీనికి తోడు వివిధ అవయవాలు దెబ్బతిని ఉండటం ఆమె ప్రాణానికి ముప్పు తెచ్చిందని మేదాంత మెడిసిటీ ఆస్పవూతిలోని ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ క్రిటికల్ కేర్ అండ్ అనెస్థీషియోలజీ చైర్మన్ డాక్టర్ యతిన్ మెహతా చెప్పారు. ఇలాంటి కేసులలో చివరకు గుండెపోటు ప్రాణం పోవడానికి కారణమవుతుందని తెలిపారు. తాను సింగపూర్ నుంచి భారత్‌కు తిరిగి బయల్దేరేంత వరకూ (శుక్షికవారం సాయంత్రం వరకూ) ఆమె హృదయం తనంతట తాను రక్తం సరఫరా చేసిందని ఆయన చెప్పారు. ఆమె ఊపిరితిత్తులు స్వల్పంగా ఇన్‌ఫెక్షన్‌కు గురైనా.. రక్తపోటు సాధారణ స్థితిలోనే ఉందని తెలిపారు. ఆ యువతి అత్యంత సాహసికురాలని, తీవ్ర గాయాలకు గురైనా మృత్యువుతో పోరాడిన ఆదర్శనీయురాలని ప్రశంసించారు.

తెల్లవారుజామున ఢిల్లీకి భౌతికకాయం!
సింగపూర్ ఆస్పవూతిలో మరణించిన యువతి భౌతికకాయం ఆదివారం తెల్లవారుజామున ఢిల్లీకి చేరుకునే అవకాశం ఉన్నట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. ఆమె మృతదేహాన్ని భారత్‌కు తెప్పించేందుకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం ఒక ప్రత్యేక విమానాన్ని పంపింది. భారత కాలమానం ప్రకారం శనివారం మధ్యాహ్నం ఒంటిగంటకు ఇది సింగపూర్‌లో ల్యాండ్ అయింది. విమానంలో ఒక మహిళా పోలీసు అధికారి సహా నలుగురు అధికారులు సింగపూర్‌కు వచ్చారు. దీనిలోనే ఆమె భౌతికకాయాన్ని తీసుకురానున్నారు. ఇదే విమానంలో బాధితురాలి తల్లిదంవూడులు, ఇతర కుటుంబ సభ్యులు కూడా వస్తున్నారు. ఈ విమానం భారత కాలమానం ప్రకారం రాత్రి 9.30 గంటలకు సింగపూర్ నుంచి బయల్దేరింది. అయితే ఈ విమానం ఎక్కడ ల్యాండ్ అవుతుందో ఇంకా తెలియరాలేదు.

న్యూఢిల్లీ, డిసెంబర్ 29: సింగపూర్ ఆస్పవూతిలో చనిపోయిన యువతి అంతిమ సంస్కారాలకు దూరం పాటిద్దామని బ్రాడ్‌కాస్టింగ్ ఎడిటర్స్ అసోసియేషన్ టెలివిజన్ చానళ్లకు విజ్ఞప్తి చేసింది. అలాగైతేనే ఈ విషాద సమయంలో ఆ కుటుంబ ఏకాంతానికి భంగం వాటిల్లకుండా గౌరవించినట్లు అవుతుందని పేర్కొంది. పలు ప్రఖ్యాత చానళ్ల ఎడిటర్లు బీఏఈలో సభ్యులుగా ఉన్నారు. అత్యాచార బాధితురాలి కుటుంబ సభ్యుల ప్రైవసీని కాపాడేందుకు అంత్యక్షికియల విషయంలో పాటించాల్సిన మార్గదర్శకాలను బీఈఏ ప్రతిపాదించింది. అంత్యక్షికియల విజువల్స్‌కానీ, మృతురాలి కుటుంబ సభ్యుల దృశ్యాలుగానీ చూపించవద్దని కోరింది. బంధువుల ఇంటర్వ్యూలు కూడా తీసుకోవద్దని పేర్కొంది. భౌతికకాయం ఎప్పుడు వచ్చినదీ చెప్పండి తప్పించి.. అంత్యక్షికియలు ఎక్కడ జరుగుతాయన్నది బహిరంగపర్చవద్దని కోరింది. భౌతికకాయం వచ్చినప్పటి దృశ్యాలను కూడా ప్రసారం చేయవద్దని, భౌతికకాయాన్ని తీసుకుపోయే వాహనాన్ని వెంటాడవద్దని సూచించింది.

Delhi gang-rape victim succumbs to injuries

The 23-year-old girl, who was gang-raped and brutally assaulted in a Delhi bus nearly a fortnight ago, died at a hospital in Singapore early Saturday. 

The girl who was admitted on Thursday morning at the multi-organ speciality facility, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, in an extremely critical condition here, died at 4:45 AM local time (2:15 AM Indian time), the hospital said in a statement. 

The hospital chief executive officer Dr Kelvin Loh said: “We are very sad to report that the patient passed away peacefully at 4.45 AM on 29 Dec 2012 (Singapore time). 

Her family and officials from the High Commission of India were by her side. 

The Mount Elizabeth Hospital team of doctors, nurses and staff join her family in mourning her loss,” Dr Loh added.

నెలలోపు ఒక నిర్ణయం ఉంటుంది’’ అని షిండే చెప్పారు. అయితే.. తెలంగాణ విషయంలో నాన్చుడు ధోరణులకు, సాగదీత వ్యవహారాలకు పెట్టింది పేరైన కాంగ్రెస్ ప్రభుత్వాన్ని నమ్మేదిలేదని, అది ప్రకటించిన నెలగడువులోనూ మునుపెన్నడూ చూడని ఉధృత ఉద్యమాన్ని చవిచూపిస్తామని తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమకారులు అంటున్నారు. దాదాపు మూడేళ్లుగా కాంగ్రెస్ దోబూచులాటలను గమనిస్తున్నామని, ఇంకా మోసపోయే పరిస్థితి లేదని స్పష్టం చేస్తున్నారు. తెలంగాణ విషయంలో ఈ చివరి దశలోనూ మోసం చేస్తే తీవ్ర పర్యవసానాలు ఎదుర్కొనాల్సి ఉంటుందని హెచ్చరిస్తున్నారు. ఇదిలాఉండగా.. పీఐబీలో ఉంచిన అఖిలపక్ష సమావేశం వివరాల నోట్ కలకలం రేపింది. నెల రోజుల్లో తెలంగాణపై నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంటామని పదే పదే షిండే తన విలేకరుల సమావేశంలో ఉద్ఘాటించగా.. పీఐబీ పోస్ట్ చేసిన కథనంలో ఆ ప్రస్తావనే లేకుండాపోయింది. ఒక దశలో షిండే తన మాట మార్చారని కూడా వాదనలు వచ్చాయి.

సాధారణంగా పీఐబీ కేంద్ర మంత్రుల మాటలకు ప్రాధాన్యం ఇచ్చి ప్రకటన వెలువరిస్తుంటుంది. అయితే.. కీలకమైన ఈ సమావేశంలో అత్యంత కీలకమైన వ్యాఖ్యలుగా ఉన్న ‘నెల రోజుల్లోపు నిర్ణయం ఉంటుంది’ అన్న వాక్యాన్ని ప్రస్తావించకపోవడం పలు అనుమానాలకు దారి తీస్తున్నది. ఇదెలా ఉన్నప్పటికీ.. ప్రత్యేక తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర ఏర్పాటు డిమాండ్‌పై జరుగుతున్న ఉద్యమంతో గత కొద్ది సంవత్సరాలుగా ఆంధ్రవూపదేశ్ ప్రజలు సమస్యలు ఎదుర్కొంటున్న విషయాన్ని తాను అర్థం చేసుకున్నానని షిండే విలేకరుల సమావేశంలో అన్నారు. రాష్ట్రంలోని యువత శాంతియుతంగా ఉండాలని విజ్ఞప్తి చేశారు. ‘‘యువత శాంతియుతంగా ఉండాలని కోరుతున్నాను. ఫలితం తప్పకుండా ఉంటుంది. ప్రభుత్వం ఒక నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంటుంది. ప్రభుత్వం తీసుకునే నిర్ణయం మంచిదే ఉంటుంది’’ అని ఆయన చెప్పారు. సమావేశంలో వివిధ పార్టీల ప్రతినిధులు ఏం చెప్పారో వెల్లడించేందుకు హోం మంత్రి తిరస్కరించారు.


‘‘జరిగినది ఇన్‌కెమెరా(బహిరంగం కాని) సమావేశం. ఆ వివరాలు చెప్పేందుకు ఇది వేదిక కాదు. ఈ సమావేశంలో వ్యక్తమైన అభివూపాయాలకు అనుగుణంగా తుది నిర్ణయం తీసుకోవడం జరుగుతుంది’’ అని తెలిపారు. తెలంగాణ అంశంపై ఇదే చివరి అఖిలపక్ష సమావేశమని ఆయన అన్నారు. సుహృద్భావపూర్వక వాతావరణంలో జరిగిన ఈ సమావేశంపై తాను పూర్తి సంతృప్తితో ఉన్నానని చెప్పారు. అన్ని పార్టీలూ తమ అభివూపాయాలను చెప్పాయని హోం మంత్రి తెలిపారు. తెలంగాణపై కేంద్రం తీసుకునే నిర్ణయంతో ఎంత మంది ప్రజలు సంతృప్తి చెందుతారన్న విలేకరుల ప్రశ్నకు.. ‘‘ఒక నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నప్పుడు కొంతమంది సంతృప్తి చెందుతారు. కొంతమందిలో అసంతృప్తి ఉంటుంది’’ అని బదులిచ్చారు. సమావేశంలో అన్ని పార్టీల ప్రతినిధులు చెప్పిన అభివూపాయాలను తాను రాసుకున్నానని తెలిపారు. నిర్ణయం తీసుకోబోయే ముందు వీటన్నింటినీ పరిగణనలోకి తీసుకోవడం జరుగుతుందని అన్నారు.
నెలలోపు తీసుకునే నిర్ణయం తుది నిర్ణయం అవుతుందా? అని విలేకరులు ప్రశ్నించగా.. నెల రోజుల్లో నిర్ణయం వస్తుందని చెప్పాను కదా.. అన్నారు. పార్టీలన్నీ సమన్వయంతో వ్యవహరించాయని చెబుతూ వాటిని అభినందించారు. అన్ని పార్టీలూ సంతృప్తితో సమావేశం నుంచి వెళ్లాయని చెప్పారు.

పదహారు మంది ప్రతినిధులు
రాష్ట్రంలోని ఎనిమిది రాజకీయ పార్టీల నుంచి పార్టీకి ఇద్దరు చొప్పున 16 మంది ప్రతినిధులు తెలంగాణపై కేంద్ర హోం శాఖ ఏర్పాటు చేసిన అఖిలపక్ష సమావేశానికి హాజరయ్యారు. శుక్రవారం ఉదయం పదిగంటలకు హోం మంత్రి షిండే కార్యాలయం ఉన్న నార్త్‌బ్లాక్‌లోని సమావేశ మందిరంలో అఖిలపక్షం మొదలైంది. కాంగ్రెస్ నుంచి రాష్ట్ర మాజీ స్పీకర్ కేఆర్ సురేష్‌డ్డి(తెలంగాణ ప్రాంతం), సీనియర్ నేత గాదె వెంకటడ్డి(సీమాంధ్ర ప్రాంతం) హాజరయ్యారు. టీడీపీ నుంచి సీనియర్ నేత కడియం శ్రీహరి(తెలంగాణ), మాజీ స్పీకర్ యనమల రామకృష్ణుడు(సీమాంధ్ర) వచ్చారు. సీపీఐ ప్రతినిధులుగా ఆ పార్టీ రాష్ట్ర కార్యదర్శి నారాయణ, ఎమ్మెల్యే గుండా మల్లేష్ పాల్గొన్నారు.

సీపీఎం నుంచి పార్టీ రాష్ట్ర కార్యదర్శి బీవీ రాఘవులు, ఎమ్మెల్యే జూలకంటి రంగాడ్డి హాజరయ్యారు. వైఎస్సార్సీపీ నుంచి ఎంవీ మైసూరాడ్డి(సీమాంధ్ర), కేకే మహేందర్‌డ్డి (తెలంగాణ) హాజరుకాగా.. ఎంఐఎం నుంచి ఆ పార్టీ అధ్యక్షుడు అసదుద్దీన్ ఒవైసీ, మరో ప్రతినిధిగా జీవీజీ నాయుడు వచ్చారు. టీఆర్‌ఎస్ తరఫున ఆ పార్టీ అధ్యక్షుడు కే చంద్రశేఖర్‌రావు, సీనియర్ నేత నాయిని నర్సింహాడ్డి పాల్గొన్నారు. హోం మంత్రి ఆహ్వానం మేరకు రాష్ట్ర ముఖ్యమంత్రి కిరణ్‌కుమార్‌డ్డి అఖిలపక్ష సమావేశానికి ప్రత్యేకంగా హాజరయ్యారు.

Future terrorists to come from Hindu, Christian religions too: US report

An official US report has warned that future terrorists could come from many different religions, including Christianity and Hinduism. The reports added that right-wing and left-wing ideological groups will also pose threats.

The report, however said it hopes that the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq and a reduced military presence in Afghanistan will also decrease the terrorists'' ability to use America for stirring up Muslim anger, reports The Dawn.

 "The Future of Terrorism" is part of a larger report that studies global trends between now and 2030. The report stated that US support for Israel could be the last remaining major focus of Muslim anger. It further said that several circumstances are ending the current Islamist phase of terrorism, indicating that "the recent religious wave is receding and could end by 2030".

It further said that terrorism is unlikely to die completely because it has no single cause. The report stated that although Al-Qaeda and others have focused on the United States as a clear enemy, the appeal of the United States as the "great enemy" is declining. According to the report, moral resurgence of secular democracy in the Arab world will also help defuse terrorism as the Arab uprisings were non-violent struggles.

 It added that future generations in the Arab and Muslim worlds may not agree with the perceptions of the older generations and may not want to carry on their battles. The report stated that many states might continue to use terrorist groups; exploiting terrorist movements out of a strong sense of insecurity. It claimed that states such as Pakistan and Iran feel threatened by what they perceive as stronger, threatening powers in their regions or globally.


Therefore, they seek asymmetric options to assert power and deter attack; using terrorist groups as proxies and pursuing nuclear weapons are two such asymmetric tools. However, the report concludes by saying that international disapproval of state support for terrorist movements has increased significantly, and the costs to a regime of directly supporting terrorists looks set to become even greater as international cooperation increases

Muslim women on top in the battle against premarital sex: US Study

The burqa really works. When you cover your women head to toe with cloth to keep them from being viewed by men outside their family, and you keep them strictly segregated from men throughout their growing years until they get married, you’re going to have less premarital sex.

That was the Rev Paul Sullins’ reaction to a new study on sex outside marriage. Sullins is a sociologist at the Catholic University of America.

With their “True Love Waits” jewelry, conferences and T-shirts, Christians may be the face of the abstinence movement, but Muslims are more likely to abstain from premarital sex.

Of all the world's major religious groups, Muslims are the least likely to have sex outside of marriage, new research found. And as a country's Muslim population grows, the rate of premarital sex declines for all residents, even non-Muslims, according to the study.

Researchers analyzed the responses of over 620,000 people (ages 15-59) who were interviewed as part of the Demographic and Health Surveys in 31 mostly developing nations from 2000 to 2008. Most countries included in the sample had either a Muslim or Christian majority, except India and Nepal, which have Hindu majorities, and Cambodia which has a Buddhist majority. (The United States was not included in the study.)

That’s the conclusion of a new study in the American Sociological Review, which also found that Muslims and Hindus — at least in the developing world — are more likely than Christians and Jews to refrain from extramarital sex.

“All major world religions discourage sex outside of marriage, but they are not all equally effective in shaping behavior,” said Amy Adamczyk of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, who co-authored the study with John Jay doctoral student Brittany E. Hayes.

Adamczyk said the study evolved from another study she was doing that found countries with large Muslim populations have very low rates of HIV and AIDS. “I was trying to figure out why that would be,” she said. One reason she considered was lower rates of sex outside of marriage.

“In many countries around the world — but in Muslim countries specifically, there’s just much less interaction between the sexes,” said Adamczyk. “It’s just going to be much less likely that they’re going to meet a potentially romantic partner.”

Drawing on the Demographic and Health Surveys funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the study included data from 31 developing nations collected between 2000 and 2008. The authors focused on individuals’ responses to questions on religious affiliation, marital status, and sexual behavior outside of marriage.

The authors hypothesized that the larger the proportion of Muslims and Hindus in a country, the lower the rates of premarital and extramarital sex.

Adamczyk and Hayes found that 94 percent of Jews in the nations they studied reported having premarital sex, compared to 79 percent of Christians, 65 percent of Buddhists and 43 percent of Muslims.

As for extramarital sex, 4 percent of Jews reported having sex outside of marriage, compared to 3 percent of Christians. Less than one percent each of Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists reported having extramarital sex.

Suzy Ismail, a marriage and divorce counselor and the author of several books on Muslim marriage, said low rates of premarital and extramarital sex among Muslims are rooted in the religion.
